Before we start, Amaro in Italian means ‘Bitter.’
Why I created ‘The Amaro Life!’
My father hails from the Gela, Sicily which the province is Caltanissetta where Amaro Averna was founded. At a young age my father gave me a sip of Averna and loved it but never really understood it. Growing up and being in the restaurant business my whole life you constantly learn by going to tastings, meeting with venders, and trying new things out.
In the Spring of 2017, I was part of a selected few professional in Las Vegas that took the Academy of Fine Spirits and Service course at Southern Glazers Wine and Spirits of Las Vegas at their Academy Room. During the three months we tasted over 220 spirits and every week we had a different subject matter. Week 10 was Amaro. I feel in love! I thought I knew Amaro until Francesco Lafranconi our teacher and world famous bartender blew our minds.
Ever since that week my mission was to educate people on Amaro, the health benefits, the culture, cocktails, and lifestyle!
