Many Americans are catching onto the Spritz fad that has been a staple in Europe for decades. A spritz is defined by adding some bubbly to an aperitivo style liqueur.
You have the spritz with a sparkling wine like Prosecco or you have a spritz with Soda.
Many spritz cocktails would be an Amaro Aperitivo style such as Aperol, Cappelletti Aperitvo, Cocchi Americano, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto, Campari, etc. If you really wanted to be adventurous you can use good quality Amaro style Vermouth with a splash of soda or even really bitter amaro that goes down better with San Pellegrino Blood Orange soda such as the Don Ciccio e Figli product Ferro-Kina.
Spritz:
I prefer to tend to use a non-sweet Prosecco such as Mionetto DOC Brut as my sparkling wine spritzer. For Vermouths or doing an Americano style cocktails such as a Campari Americano, Cocchi Americano, etc. just add San Pellegrino sparkling water. If you want to be really creative add a flavored soda such as San Pellegrino flavored fruit sodas. https://www.sanpellegrinofruitbeverages.com/us/en/beverages
Garnishing the Spritz:
-With prosecco as the main spritz add Castelvetrano Sicilian olives
-With soda as the main spritz add an orange peel if the Aperitivo is a red hue color and with White or Dry Vermouth add a lemon peel
